Is it HOT enough?
August can seem excruciating here in SoCal. The heat, some humidity from the passing storms that seem to give us not much more than a sprinkle (if we're lucky) but leaves the air muggy for days. Seems the only way to escape it is to stay indoors. I suppose with the looming threat of Covid, that is a given anyway.
Don't overwork that AC. When the sun goes down, and the breeze picks up, open up your windows in every room that you can. Turn on a fan or two to let the air circulate. Have a whole house fan? Utilize it! Not only does that help your electric bill if you don't have solar, but it also freshens your home, so you don't end up with a case of Housatosis.
Stay Cool. A few tips to staying cool in this heat. If you have young kids, with no pool, get creative with the water games in the late afternoon. The sun is low, and you will start cooling off when the water fun ends.
If your home or office seems to just stay hot, take a look around at some energy saving ideas such as:
Insulating your attic,
Replacing your windows for newer models,
Tinting your windows in your office, and/or adding some style with solar blocking curtains,
Installing a whole house fan,
Updating your AC
And of course, getting a new, updated Title 24 Roof!
Don't let the heat win!
